Hearts & Minds

We are starting week 3 in China, and just finished week 1 of class. Who woulda thunkit...Callie & Thomas as college English teachers! This past week has definitely been a success. We started the week feeling a bit anxious/nervous, but that quickly diminished as HE took over. The classes couldn't gone any better. The students were very excited, as they grinned the entire class.

We are quickly building relationships with students outside the classroom. Many of them have taken us out to eat after class, invited us to play sports, offered to show/help us around town, and expressed an interest in spending more time with us. In particular, there are 2 girls who HE may have placed before us, as they allowed us to share our beliefs with them.

Last week we went to our first Chinese/English Sunday meeting. It was both amazing & encouraging, to hear the songs that we know so well, being sung in Chinese. We have enjoyed getting to know our Chinese brothers & sisters. It is great being able to see the fruit of the seeds that were planted in years past.

We have also been spending time with some other American "workers". It's good to know that there other Americans who are going through the same experiences and have the same goals in mind. Us waiguorens (foreigners) were also thrilled to discover a restaurant that serves pizza, onion rings, and sweet tea!

Thank you for the continued thoughts, they are definitely felt.
